We featured this property on our weekly Open House Report, but unfortunately that wasn't enough to entice a buyer. The 1-bed, 1-bath, 909-square-foot condo at 733 Front Street in Jackson Square has been on the market since early December, and took a price chop of $50,000 on December 26. By way of Redfin agent David Pemstein we learn that It's a "Very large 1 bedroom and nice bathroom. Very sleek and modern design. Fitness room and roof deck with amazing view of East Bay." Readers, what's the problem? It's a boutique luxury building with 69 condos, and there's a door person during business hours. Monthly HOA dues are $651 and only leased parking is available for an additional $350 per month.

Above Bush and below California, between Van Ness and Mason: Tendernob. Moving on… this 1-bed, 1-bath, 642 square foot condo last sold in 2008 for $470,000. Now it's back, and with a less expensive asking price: $450,000, or $701 per square foot. The building was erected in 1913 and the condo's interiors still maintain some of its original charm, like a fireplace in the bedroom and some nice built-ins. Monthly HOA dues are $359 and there's no mention of parking.

Asking price? $725,000, or $533 per square foot. The neighborhood average is $715 per square. This unit has actually been on and off the market since October of 2011, and we'd love to hear your thoughts on why this place can't seem to score a buyer. A Redfin agent has visited the abode and the only negative feedback was that the "kitchen could use an update," which we're going to have to agree with. Readers, what do you think? Monthly HOA dues are a very low $191 and there's 1-car leased parking for $300.

Decorate Bedroom Around Found Antique Quilt? Good Questions

Q: We just moved into a new house this weekend, and in the process of cleaning out the unfinished basement we found a gorgeous hand-stitched antique quilt! We washed it and it is in great condition. Best of all, we found that it fits our king size bed, which was going to need new bedding anyway.

Talk about a great find - I am so excited to incorporate this gorgeous quilt into our house, but I'm at a loss on what to do with the rest of the bedding (pillows, shams, sheets, etc.). I'm afraid that leaving everything else white will look really plain and boring, but I'm also afraid of veering too far into matchy-matchy territory, either. Our design style is fairly traditional, and the rest of the house is done mostly in cool gray and white tones. The quilt is ivory, with navy blue, pale pink, hot pink, and pale gray. The walls are also pale gray. Please keep in mind that this is a shared room, so I don't want to go over the top with the pink - it needs to be fairly gender neutral - but some pink is fine.

Maximalist master Tony Duquette never shied away from an opportunity to pack a room full of far-flung influences and his partner and heir apparent Hutton Wilkinson has picked up that torch. Maybe times have changed, or this is just simply too green, but his work on this 1958 one bedroom in Los Angeles is over the top. The bedroom is overrun with intricately carved wood paneling from South Asia, and while the other rooms aren't so bad, this one is really dragging down the $925K listing.

Inspiration: Murano Glass Chandeliers in the Bedroom

Handcrafted Murano glass chandeliers are the ultimate symbol of luxury in lighting options, and what better place to pamper oneself than in a bedroom retreat. Oftentimes these beauties are seen with ornate styling in traditional interiors, but they can work well as eclectic statements in modern rooms, too.

Some traditional styles feature multi-colored glass draped in crystal, and while this is a look that works for some, don't discount these chandeliers completely if your vibe is more modern. We love a solid glass in a bright color popping off clean white walls, or a semi-transparent gold that hangs like a halo above a substantial bedframe. Originally asking $4,500,000, unit #205 in the Royal Towers has finally sold after hanging out on the market for over a year. Sale price? $2,900,000. As we've mentioned before, this is a 1-bedroom, 1.5-bath co-op. Sure, it clocks it at 2,849-square-feet, and yes, interior designer and famous person Ann Getty designed the abode. But $2,900,000 for a one bedroom? Pair that with headache-inducing monthly HOA dues of $4,312.91 and we're ready for our nightly martini, thank you very much. The unit is packed full of fancy like a hexagonal onyx foyer, Jaipur arches and a silver ceiling in the dining room. No word yet on who gets the keep the furniture.

Anyone accepting nominations for parents of the year? Because this guy deserves it. On a whim, a Tennessee man named Casey Fleser—a self-professed "software developer, hobby collector, family man, and all around good guy—decided to decorate his sons' room in a Super Mario Bros. theme. "I didn’t really think about it," he explains, "except that it would be cool." Well, sometimes cool equals expensive, and Fleser came face to face with a set of decals that would help make the coolness happen—for $1,100.

The aim was to recreate World 1-1, the video game's uber-recognizable first level:

"I worked it out so each pixel would work out to 1/4? square and my scene would be 232 (58?) pixels tall by about 2060 pixels wide (515?). Since the vast majority of it was sky, it surely wouldn’t be that much work, right?

So we got to work and quickly had our three background color painted: black on the bottom, an orangeish stripe along the middle that would be the ground, and the blue sky above. The next day we’d pencil in a grid and start painting pixels."

Later, Fleser reflected on the process. "Now if I can just avoid blurting out any more ridiculous ideas," he writes.

Before & After: A Big Ticket Bedroom

We got a long distance email from Laura in Amsterdam this morning: When we bought our house about two years ago we fixed the place up quite a bit. After we got settled in, my fiancé and I started looking for a headboard that suited our small bedroom. Since we couldn't find anything we liked, we decided to make our own.

Using inspiration from a vintage ticket stub, we designed this decal. We had it printed as a large black and a red wall sticker, which we cut in approx. 20 pieces and applied to the wall. We used some dates and numbers that mean something to us (including our anniversary date) to make it even more personal.

The chair we use as a night stand is a recent thrift store find and the bedspread a vintage piece from Lady Day in Amsterdam.
