Every Wednesday we break down the details of a lesser known park in San Francisco. And why not? There are 220 of them, but it sometimes seems like Golden Gate Park and Dolores Park get all the attention. Since our normally scheduled Park Life post is on hiatus this week, we thought it best to map all the parks Curbed's profiled to date. Have a favorite park that you'd like us to check out? This has been a pretty crazy year for very expensive real estate in San Francisco. Some of the city's most expensive abodes have finally sold after lingering on the market for bazillions of years. That said, some pretty pricey homes were put on the market and then sold quickly. After the jump, a map of some of the most expensive homes that were listed and sold in 2012.

The fabulously wealthy and fickle—or those simply not ready to plunk down tens of millions on a single home—can try out some of the country's most exclusive and expensive homes, simply by spending six figures every month on rent. Interested? Mapped below, please find the ten of the most expensive rentals on the market, including actor Pierce Brosnan's Malibu manse, listed for $250K per month, and the Rhode Island estate that Nicholas Cage lost to bankruptcy, now up for rent for $100K.

At Mission Mission, via Burrito Justice, news of Pastmapper, Brad Thompson's ambitious project to create Google maps of the past. His prototype gives us a look at the San Francisco of 1853 using data from vintage directories and overlays from the Donald Rumsey map collection. We learn that Grant Avenue was once called Dupont Street, and California Street looks like a hotbed of commercial activity. There's a clickable breakdown of businesses, so we found some saloons. We looked- and couldn't find- any bordellos. But that may require an entirely different vintage directory.
