On the Market: Bernal Heights Condo Is a Pinch Over $500K

× Like us and you'll find top breaking news in your Facebook newsfeed. Sign up for our daily email newsletter and get top stories and breaking news delivered to your inbox. Thursday, January 19, 2012, by Sally Kuchar 24 Highland is a 2-bed, 1-bath top floor condo in Bernal Heights. Let's get the "meh" out of the way: Yes, the only thing separating the building from busy San Jose Avenue is some foliage. On to the good stuff: This is a two bedroom condo in good shape. Asking price? $509,000. A little over 500K for a two bedroom a desirable San Francisco neighborhood. No strings attached. It's not a TIC. It's not a short sale. The HOA dues are a low $250 and there's 1-car parking in the garage. We are filing this unit under "It's a Great Deal." Readers, what say you? Let us know in the comments!

On the Market: Bernal Heights Beauty Has Suburban Features We Love

× Like us and you'll find top breaking news in your Facebook newsfeed. Sign up for our daily email newsletter and get top stories and breaking news delivered to your inbox. Wednesday, December 7, 2011, by Sally Kuchar 660 Moutrie is a 2-bed, 1-bath abode in Bernal Heights. The 1,000-square-foot home sits in the middle of a lot that's approximately 1,750-square-feet, so it has front, side and back yards, a real rarity around the city. Also rare: it has a basement and an attic. How suburban! And awesome. Property highlights include a wall of windows that look out onto the backyard from the kitchen and the original 1908 wainscoting in the dining room. Asking price? $639,000.

Open House Report: Weekend Open House Report: Bernal Heights Edition

× Like us and you'll find top breaking news in your Facebook newsfeed. Sign up for our daily email newsletter and get top stories and breaking news delivered to your inbox. Friday, April 15, 2011, by Sally Kuchar

This week's selection of open houses for your weekend browsing pleasure are all within the Bernal Heights neighborhood.

4-15-11dek.jpgLocation: 5 Winfield
Size: 2-bed, 1.5-bath; unlisted square footage
Price: $749,000
Pitch: "Perched on the north slope of Bernal, 5 Winfield is a unique combination of an original 1904 cottage with a modern addition designed by Ross Levy in 2009."
Our Take: Lots of fancy and shiny finishes in this abode. The foyer and stairway have black bamboo flooring; there's a private south-facing deck with a hot tub and outdoor shower and the second bedroom has a roll-up glass door that's opened and closed with a remote.
Open House: Saturday and Sunday, 2 to 4pm

4-15-11green.jpgLocation: 330 Prospect
Size: 2-bed, 2-bath; 1,050/sq-ft
Price: $929,000
Pitch: "Very special Arts & Crafts home on one of the best streets on the NW slope of Bernal. Close to all the shops and restaurants on Cortland and Mission."
Our Take: We're seriously digging the quirky and unusual floorplan for the main rooms. And while we like the color palette, we know olive green is not for everyone. The master suite with bathroom is on its own level, so that's a real plus.
Open House: Sunday, 2 to 4pm

4-15-11redporch.jpgLocation: 243 Moultrie
Size: 4-bed, 1-bath; 1,500/sq-ft
Price: $948,000
Pitch: "This Victorian charmer delivers the best open living/dining/kitchen combination money can possibly buy in this price point! In addition there is a valuable in-law unit, garage with parking & abundant storage."
Our Take: Let's get the obvious out of the way: the interior paint job needs to go. As does the rooster image on the kitchen floor. That said, paint jobs are an inexpensive and easy cosmetic fix. Four bedrooms and one bathroom is troubling.
Open House: Sunday, 2 to 4pm
