The folks at Apartment Therapy recently toured the eclectic, homey interiors of Airbnb's San Francisco headquarters—their current office digs, not the larger space they've recently signed a lease for. Inside, the conference rooms are modeled after listing options—luckily more on the side of the vacation rental site's high-design offerings than the, uh, broken-down minivan options—and many rooms have a comfortable, living room-like atmosphere. "That kind of environment enables creative conversation, essential to any innovative company," the company's Jenna Cushner told Apartment Therapy. Translation: flea market finds in the "San Francisco room," SMEG refrigerators in several colors, "random piles of wigs, costumes, crazy sunglasses, bowties and mustaches strewn around the office," and, tying it all together, one heck of a lot of Eames chairs. "[They're] so important to us," Cushner says. "Charles and Ray Eames' approach to design and collaboration has had a huge influence our company and culture." In another nod to design greats, Cushner said her no-holds-barred dream for the office would would involve "Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water on the site," she says. "How amazing would it be to have that exterior recreated, complete with a waterfall?" More photos, below.
