2011_11_23_UP1_tiny.jpgThe new San Francisco campus will serve 10,000 patients a year. University of the Pacific will relocate its dental school from Pacific Heights to what's currently the hottest block in SoMa- Fifth Street between Mission and Howard Streets, across from the Forest City/Hearst project announced last week. UP closed on the building for $47M, plans a $100M gut renovation and a 2014 move-in for about 500 students and the same number of staff, so lots of new bodies in the neighborhood. Public transit was cited as one reason for the move, but no doubt having the ginormous Mission Garage a few feet away was a draw. [SF Gate/Bottom Line, image via UP, plus previously at Curbed SF]
