Screen-shot-2011-02-01-at-9.59.59-AM.jpgLast year, an Auburn, Ala., couple checked out a hard-bound volume of vintage House Beautiful magazines from July to December, 1967—from editor in chief Sarah Tomerlin Lee's short reign—from the library at Auburn University. This not being 1967, they taped themselves flipping through its hundreds of pages and uploaded the footage to YouTube. Highlights of the 14-plus minute video include: a Bing Crosby for La-Z Boy ad ("symbolizing relaxing and taking it easy," they muse); a beanbag chair presented as cutting-edge on a trends page; and an ad from the Miniature Donkey Registry of the United States for, obviously, a miniature donkey—"to ride, to drive, or to simply love." We clipped a very short bit, which follows the jump.
