[Furman Center] Mortgage Lending in the Wake of the Great Recession

I am participating panel today that I am told is oversubscribed but I plan to share my thoughts here after the conference is over. Navigating Uncertain Waters: Mortgage Lending in the Wake of the Great Recession hosted by the Furman Center For Real Estate & Urban Policy and The Institute for Affordable Housing Policy.

The panel represents many perspectives on assessing collateral (translation: appraising!). It’s the first time that I am aware of where an event has been held to address the appraisal issue in a constructive way.

Feedback to follow.

[MRIS Blog] Kitchens Remain A Home’s Center Of Attention, Not Toast

As I expand my market research to the Washington DC and Baltimore housing markets (market reports coming soon) for MRIS, the largest MLS in the US and their research group, RealEstate Business Intelligence (RBI), I am dropping in on their blogs fairly regularly to share my thoughts, ranging from the technical to the whimsical.

Either way, it keeps me out of the kitchen.

In this post I talk about home remodeling forecasts only as an excuse to complain about the lack of improvement in toasters over the past 50 years…

Denver Tech Center: Ready or Not, Here We Come

At Trulia, change is the one thing you can count on! Trulians are discontent with the status quo and that continues to fuel our enthusiasm for growing our business and evolving our organization.  A Trulians’ DNA is comprised of individualism, creativity and the drive to excel.  We are not only making a difference in the Real Estate industry, but positively impacting professionals and consumers lives.  With only a few weeks of the new year behind us, 2011 has already lived up to Trulia’s M.O. and expansion to the mile high city is a particularly exciting and welcomed addition to the family.

The search for a home for Trulia’s contact center started with a force ranked list of must and nice-to-haves – it turned out the search was a relatively easy one. If one could recruit a city, Denver certainly fits our ideal candidate – smart, progressive, motivated, open to adventure & risk, and well…generally likable.

Trulia’s company values, befittingly summarized by “IMPACT” are a powerful amalgam of  traits continually propelling the company and its unique culture forward – Innovate, Make a difference, People matter, Act with integrity, Customer obsessed, Trust & respect each other. Most leading companies built their cultures on strong values, Trulia is no exception. We not only talk the talk but we back it up.  For example, we say People matter and if you look at our benefits, you will see we stand apart from most:

-          Work life balance (generous PTO and holiday programs),

-          Family friendly programs (maternity and paternity leaves, 529 College savings plan, dependent FSA),

-          Healthy lifestyles (great 100% paid employee health benefits, additional assistance programs, Flexible Spending Account)

-          Future (401K employee match, Stock options, life insurance, 529 College Savings plan, credit union, online training opportunities)

We’re all super eager to welcome our newest Denver based Trulians to the team! With sales management, sales reps, customer support management, CS rep, and HR positions still available, we’re looking for some great people to apply! With only a few weeks left before the grand opening we’re busy building the future of the company, embracing each new addition to the team, and of course reveling in the trip so far.
