Now that the news of the sad fate of Land's End, the Long Island estate said to be the inspiration for the setting of Daisy Buchanan's parties in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, has shocked and awed preservationists, lovers of literature, and haters of high-end development communities near and far, today the Daily Mail releases some new photos of the neglected property. Built in 1902, the house and its grounds cost owner David Brodsky $4,500 per day to maintain—and it was that hefty $30M price tag that apparently detracted potential buyers. Have a look above.

Word on the street in that bad boy Charlie Sheen is in escrow to purchase a 10,000-square-foot Beverly Hills, Calif., estate from Black Swan producer Mike Medavoy for $7.495M. The home is reportedly for ex-wife Denise Richard and their kids.
UPDATE: The photos splashed across the Internet on Friday were of the wrong property. Correct photos above and after the jump.
Remember how this year's Kips Bay Decorator Show House nearly wrecked the lives of 13,000 needy kids when the original townhouse, at 26 West 76th Street in NYC, sold a few weeks before the event? Of course, organizers later found an alternate location, but let's hope that brouhaha doesn't happen again this year. This year's showhouse will take place at 163 East 63rd Street, a four-story, 10,000-square-foot home with 16 rooms. Designers and landscapers have yet to be announced; the space opens to the public April 28 and, as usual, benefits the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. It's also worth noting that NYC will host two major showhouses simultaneously this year; Elle Decor's yet-undisclosed "concept showhouse" will open its doors in May.
