Now that we've gotten past that worrisome deficit problem at the Doyle Drive replacement project, here's a celebratory video of what's to come this spring. Supervisor Mark Farrell and project spokesperson Molly Graham take us on a tour of the nearly complete tunnel- to which traffic will be permanently shifted after a weekend closure of the corridor to demolish the vintage elevated structure. Expected to happen this spring, dates to be announced. The new route to the bridge will be called "Presidio Parkway" although we're not sure the "Doyle Drive" appellation will ever go away for locals. Its reinvention will extend the Presidio's green space and views, plus clear the way for the Trust's creek daylighting projects down to the Bay. The video is a production of Teed-Haze TV and aside from the briefest of intros by Butch Haze, is completely real estate marketing-free. Enjoy.

Reveals: Take a Look: BART's Fleet of the Future Renderings Released

BART released renderings yesterday of its concepts for its Fleet of the Future, the new train cars designed by BMW Group DesignworksUSA, which will replace "the oldest fleet in the nation." There's three possible interior concepts, and we're happy to report that none of them feature upholstered seats. In fact, all of them have "easier to clean, wipeable seats" and "no musty carpets." The concepts differ more in their sense of style, and some of their specific features. For instance, Interior Concept A, which the designers have dubbed "Commuter Comfort," have headrests on window seats. As expected, BART wants your feedback. You can submit an electronic feedback form, or visit one of the many open houses that BART will be hosting starting on Thursday.

Mindboggling Reveals: Gay-Friendly BOOM Brings the Mist Disco Back to Desert Life

Why buy a home when you can buy a whole grown-up amusement park that goes with it? That seems to be the philosophy behind BOOM, a new residential development—complex, microcosm, small town, large village—that's expected to kick off phase one of construction next year. The $250M project, from L.A.-based developer Boom Communities and "conceived for the gay community but expanded to embrace everyone," enlisted 10 architects ranging from large to small to each design a "neighborhood." Diller Scofidio + Renfro, for instance, conceived "housing units to be part of a continuous, pre-cast concrete wave," whereas architect Juergen Mayer devised "a series of highly sculpted, one and two-story town homes with large patios and communally accessible gardens." Amenity buildings include a gym, a health and wellness center, and an Arakawa + Gins-designed "healing funhouse." (Not surprising, given that they're the guys behind the architectural concept of "reversible destiny"—as in structures meant to prolong youth.) Oh, and let's not forget about Diller Scofidio's "Rooftop Mist Disco and Market"—after all, this would be a pretty sorry gay community without a mist disco. Or a "market," for that matter! If this all is too mindblowing to handle, there's no need to wait to actually move in. That's right, BOOM comes with its very own social-networking site, Boom For Life, "where everyone gets to know each other, and the real interests and make-up of BOOM become evident for all."

Screen-shot-2011-01-27-at-8.45.10-AM.jpgToday TMZ publishes a photo of the modest Milwaukee, Wisc., home owned by none other than Oprah's half-sister, Patricia, who was revealed to the public on Monday. The modest cape, with four bedrooms and one bathroom, measures 1,070 square feet and is worth an estimated $55K. To put that into context: that's approximately one-thousandth of the cost of her sister's $50M Montecito, Calif., estate, whose stone gatehouse alone measures 2,000 square feet.
