The Planning Commission is slated for a heavy agenda tomorrow, and first on the list is the project at 333 Brannan Street. The William McDonough + Partners design proposes demo of an existing surface parking lot and a couple small buildings to make way for a new six-story office building with ground-floor retail and a courtyard off of Stanford Street. Since building green usually means charging more green, the project is designed to meet LEED gold standards. The new building will be located right next to the existing South End Historic District, so it's been designed to blend in with existing brick warehouse. In addition to a slew of renderings, there's also a video rendering of the project with 3D flythrough of both the interiors and exteriors (we'll admit, it's probably the sleekest looking marketing video we've seen). There hasn't seemed to be much chatter regarding the new building and Planning Department staff seems happy enough with it, so we're guessing approvals all around. Looks like all that new office space isn't slowing down any time soon. Saturday, August 17, 2013
