The prolific early 20th-century architect David Adler was responsible for many grand estates, but perhaps none was so well executed—or, today, so well preserved—as this Italianate mansion on the shores of Lake Michigan. Built in 1916, the six-bedroom, 15,000-square-foot villa enjoys an intricately paved courtyard entry, spacious entertaining rooms, stately ivy, magnificent gardens originally designed by Ralph Rodney Root, and a look that is positively, spot-on Italian. Sadly, the listing makes no mention of the property being available furnished, so the next owner will have to pony up to replicate the old-world feel of the interiors after spending $5.59M to acquire the property. At least that's a chop down from the $6.95M cited when Arch Digest stopped by for their monthly listing round-up.
